Change Management Monitor

Guide for reviewers

1. Conditions of publication on the site

We reserve the right to edit, accept or reject any review, but will contact you for approval of any proposed changes.

Submitting a review for inclusion on the site implies that you have given us a non-exclusive right to use the review and publish it on the site in the agreed form. You retain the right to use or modify your review for any other purpose (including publication elsewhere). All reviewers will be acknowledged: you may use your own name or a pseudonym.

Your email address will not be used for any purpose other than to agree the review or to contact you on related matters. It will not be passed to anyone else.

As the site operates on a voluntary basis, no payment is made for reviews. However, regular reviewers may receive review copies (see 5 below).

2. Site Coverage

The site is focused on the management of change in organizations and the range of approaches and techniques used in bringing about useful change. The subject areas are arranged from the macro - globalization, concern for the environment, the development of economic theories affecting business behaviour - through to the personal - approaches to thinking, development of personal mastery.

The site does not attempt to management fields relating to finance, manufacturing, marketing or technical fields such as logistics except where they impact directly on the management of change. You are however welcome to suggest new categories within the general field covered by the site.

3. Submission of reviews

A template for completion of reviews (in Word format) can be downloaded here. The completed review should be sent to Bill Godfrey at billgodfrey@change-management-monitor.com.

4. House style

The primary purpose of reviews on this site is to provide a succinct overview of the coverage of the book reviewed, with particular emphasis on what it adds to the existing literature in its field. Comparisons between the new book and the existing literature are therefore particularly valuable.

In general, if a book is considered to add nothing of significance (not even, for example, a clearer or more approachable exposition of existing knowledge), the book is not listed on the site.

There are three levels of review - the short review, the full review and the summary. In general books that are recommended or highly recommended should be given a full review, and you may wish to consider summarizing a book that you recommend highly.

The spelling conventions are somewhat eclectic. UK, US and Australian English are all used. It is preferable to be consistent within any one review. Spelling of quoted passages should reflect the original.

5. Review Copies

It may be possible to arrange for review copies to be provided to regular reviewers for the site. Policy on provision of copies varies from publisher to publisher and depends to some extent on the location of the reviewer. If you wish to become a regular reviewer and also if you wish to look after a particular subject area, please contact Bill Godfrey at billgodfrey@change-management-monitor.com.
